Abstract

The prevalence of disinformation, misinformation, and propaganda online has been on the rise, with multiple political, societal, and cultural implications. Automated fact-checking (AFC) has increasingly garnered interest in research over the past years as a way to address this problem. AFC systems use natural language processing and machine learning techniques to identify and verify claims made online. While AFC systems have shown promise in some areas, they still face challenges, such as the ability to handle complex claims and the need for human supervision.
