Abstract

Phosphorus, a pivotal determinant of lake productivity, assumes a critical role in governing the eutrophication dynamics of aquatic systems. The influx of phosphorus, when in excess, can precipitate the eutrophication phenomenon within lakes. Sedimentary deposits serve as a dual-functioning entity, acting as both a 'sink' and a 'source' of phosphorus contamination. Under effective regulation of exogenous phosphorus influx, the phosphorus content in the superjacent water body is primarily influenced by the liberation of endogenous phosphorus from the sedimentary strata. This intricate interplay significantly impacts the water quality and the progression of eutrophication within the lake ecosystem. In light of this, a comprehensive understanding of the transport and metamorphosis patterns of sedimentary phosphorus emerges as a crucial undertaking. This knowledge forms the bedrock for proficiently managing eutrophic lakes and instituting measures for the revitalization of aquatic flora.
