Abstract

In the contemporary landscape of development, the emergence of challenges such as resource scarcity, severe environmental pollution, and ecosystem degradation underscores the need for a paradigm shift in the development process. Addressing these concerns, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China advocates for the establishment of a legal framework and policy guidance to foster green production and consumption. The goal is to build a robust, resource-saving, and environmentally friendly green development system, ushering in an era of green cycles and low-carbon development. Embracing the ethos of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, the report emphasizes the imperative to firmly embody and practice the concept that green mountains are the golden and silver mountains, thereby shaping a new paradigm for modern development marked by harmony between humanity and nature.

Crucially, enterprises assume a pivotal role in navigating this transformative journey. As the fundamental organizational units and key drivers of market development in China's economic and social landscape, enterprises form the bedrock of the nation's economic progress and wield substantial influence in shaping a green economic system. The business model and development trajectory adopted by enterprises emerge as linchpins in propelling the realization of corporate objectives. Yet, within the rapid trajectory of corporate expansion in China, a growing spotlight is cast upon corporate environmental responsibility.

This paper delves into the intricate interplay between enterprise development and environmental responsibility in the context of China's rapid growth. Recognizing that enterprises are not only agents of economic progress but also stewards of environmental sustainability, the study seeks to unravel the evolving landscape of corporate environmental responsibility amidst the dynamic Chinese business environment. By understanding the nuanced relationship between enterprise growth and environmental stewardship, the paper aims to provide insights that can inform sustainable business practices and contribute to the realization of a green and harmonious development paradigm.
